RECYCLING SOLUTIONS RAMPS UP FLY ASH PRODUCTION CAPABILITIES

Recycling Solutions recently purchased new equipment for the production site at Ladyzhynska TPP that will enable long-term storage of fly ash. This will boost potential sales of fly ash by 10-12 thousand tons per year.

Fly ash is a seasonal product, the demand for which is highest in summer. However, at this time of year the power plant has less capacity to generate fly ash, thus causing a shortage. The solution to this problem will be long-term storage of the fly ash produced in winter.

The new project will allow fly ash to be stored for longer periods, yet without building additional silos. Fly ash will be packaged in special big bags with water-resistant polyethylene inserts. Experiments have demonstrated that in such packaging fly ash can be stored for longer periods while retaining its chief properties: flow and friability. Big bags are also easy to transport. Fly ash is used in the production of concrete, cement, and construction mix.

The fully-fledged launch of the project is scheduled for mid-November, when stockpiling of surplus fly ash will start for its later sale during the summer.
