COAL COMBUSTION PRODUCTS

Coal combustion products (CCPs) are the by-products of coal combustion at thermal power plants (TPPs).

Recycling Solutions is a complex operator for the processing, production, and sale of CCPs which are an inexpensive and high-quality substitute for natural resources used in the construction industry.

TPPs BY-PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

We offer by-product and waste auditing services so that TPPs can increase their reuse in areas of consumption in addition to the provision of efficient recycling systems. If desired, we will establish a methodology for by-product and waste processing, sales, and logistics, and integrate these into our day to day operational management. This reduces the build-up of CCPs in disposal areas, reducing the environmental costs and stress associated with the operation of TPPs.

ORDER AUDIT

THE TECHNOLOGY CENTRE

Our customers can rely on the constant quality of the coal combustion products we supply. At all stages of production, technical specialists at Recycling Solutions exercise stringent quality control on the products supplied (chemical composition, physical, mechanical, and processing characteristics). We provide additional services for the ceramics, construction, cement, chemical, and oil-and-gas industries:

  • Laboratory research on raw materials and products (materials).
  • Analysis of the quality of raw materials for production.
  • Selection of formulation for finished products.
  • Technology consultation.
  • Conducting joint or crossover research.

RESOURCES PORTFOLIO

MICROSPHERE

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Microsphere is an environmentally-friendly product of high-temperature coal combustion in power plants. It is a sphere with a size of 20–50 to 400–500 microns, filled with gas.

KEY ADVANTAGES

Microspheres have low density and high mechanical strength. By using them to fill empty spaces, manufacturers can increase the strength of finished products. Simultaneously, the products will weigh less than the usual raw materials, with less shrinkage and viscosity. The material is chemically inert, has heat resistance, low thermal conductivity, and good sound insulation. This is a promising raw material that can function under aggressive environmental and elevated temperature exposure conditions. The use of microsphere slows down the combustion of the final product, as it has high refractory characteristics. The spherical shape creates the effect of a ball bearing (has a lubricating action)—the final product is fluid and easy to spread. FIELDS OF APPLICATION

  • Ceramics industry: insulators, refractories, dishware.
  • Construction: ultra-lightweight concrete, dry building mixes, cements, plaster, coatings, insulating roofing, and sound-insulating materials.
  • Chemical industry: paintwork materials, rubber goods, polymers, composites, plastics, explosives.
  • Oil-and-gas industry: tamping of oil and gas wells.
  • Refractories and casting: production of lightweight materials, insulation materials, moulding sand mixtures, and metal supply systems to moulding sand mixtures.
  • Plastics: watercraft, sports equipment, plastics for the automotive industry.
  • Mechanical engineering and aviation: composites, hard stopping, tyres, bumpers, and panels, components, soundproof materials, primers, and ceramic thermal isolation.

OWN PRODUCTION

In 2014, a modern microsphere-enrichment factory was launched in the city of Druzhkivka. Its productive capacity is three tons per hour. The factory makes to order products of the UMS-100, UMS-250, UMS-500 brands and others. At the request of the customer, our specialists can produce any product size both by standard and exclusive fractions and select the optimal type of microsphere for any industry. We guarantee the supply of consistently high -quality materials with constant physical and chemical characteristics according to individual customer preferences. The product quality is confirmed by certificates held by the company, European Regulation No. 1907/2006 (REACH), and an international certificate for quality management system ISO 9001:2009.

DRY FLY ASH

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Dry fly ash is an impalpable flour consisting of fine particles (from a fraction of a micron up to 0.14 mm) that is formed when solid fuels are combusted. This by-product is collected by electric precipitators and subsequently selected in a dry dusty state using filters. The quality of raw materials is assured with supplies taken from several thermal power plants to meet the needs of each consumer.

KEY ADVANTAGES

  • Significantly improves the workability of heavy types of concrete and improves technical characteristics (ash partially replaces cement and sand).
  • Improves the characteristics of light types of concrete, used in the construction of motorways and airfields, as well as floors that must be resistant to acids (metallurgical production, livestock breeding complex, etc.).
  • Used to replace cement in mortars and in the manufacture of tiles or bricks.
  • Reduces the level of heat of hydration, which is an advantage when pouring over large-scale slabs and erecting buildings in hot climatic conditions.
  • I Increases the strength of concrete structures in aggressive environments (sulphate, marine).

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

  • Concrete production
  • Production of aerated concrete
  • Cement production
  • Production of construction mixes

ASH SLAG MIX

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Ash slag mix is a combination of ash and slag, which are formed as by-products during the operation of thermal power plants. They include slag sand (with particles up to 5 mm) and slag crushed stone (with particles of more than 5 mm). Volumes of supply of this material can reach more than 200,000 tons per year. We control the quality level of the mixes obtained, providing customers with raw materials of consistently high quality.

KEY ADVANTAGES

  • High thermal insulation performance
  • Low cost
  • Low-temperature resistance
  • Durability
  • Compactability

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

  • Ash slag mixes are widely used in construction as an alternative to gravel, crushed stone, sand, and similar resources, which are more laborious, costly, and environmentally destructive to extract.
  • The mixes contain a large amount of aluminium, which allows use in the manufacture of clinker.
  • Mixes are also actively used for multicomponent construction materials and road construction.

BOILER SLAG

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Boiler Slag is the mineral residue formed following the combustion of solid fuels. It does not burn, remains at the bottom of the boiler, and is subsequently moved to a specific location for the offloading of slag. This is a valuable material used in various building and construction sectors. It most often looks like small black granules with sharp edges (reminiscent of broken glass).

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

Boiler Slag is used in construction for the manufacture of:

  • Slag blocks
  • Road surfaces
  • Thermal insulation materials
  • Concrete mixes
  • Abrasive powder (for surface treatment)

WET FLY ASH

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Wet fly ash is a fine material of approximately three microns in size, having a moisture content of up to 15%. It consists of small particles that are perfect for further use without the need for additional grinding. The volume of deliveries may reach several hundred thousand tons per year.

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

Wet fly ash is often used in construction, its advantage is the presence of large proportions of aluminium oxide (up to 27%) and iron oxide (up to 12%), and additionally:

  • In the manufacture of slag blocks
  • As a component of clinker (instead of clay)
  • In private construction
