In 2023, Ukraine increased the export of granulated slag to the EU by 53%, i.e. to 367 thousand tons, and became the 4th largest supplier of this construction material. Of them, 324.5 thousand tons (+47.5% vs 2022) were provided by Recycling Solutions.

(УКР) Україна завалена промисловими відходами — дешевим і доступним ресурсом для різних сегментів виробництва. Варто лише взяти те, що вже складується просто неба. Розвинені країни давно навчилися заробляти на переробці промислових відходів. Одних спонукає до цього екологічна логіка, інших — економічна. Найпередовішою серед усіх є острівна Японія — країна з мінімальними запасами природних ресурсів і найвищим показником циклічності економіки. Японці переробляють 98% власних відходів. При цьому більшість перероблених матеріалів повертаються до виробництва того самого типу продукту.

Ukraine’s municipal waste is overflowing its landfills, while recycling has nothing but room for growth. Industrial waste is a much bigger problem, but municipal garbage is growing at an alarming rate. Ukraine’s 42 million people produce more than 36 million tons of garbage per year as of 2018 and 93 percent of it is trucked away to Ukraine’s landfills. By comparison, European Union countries landfill an average of 27 percent of municipal waste. Landfill waste releases toxins that seep into soil and groundwater. Accidental fires and intentional waste burning by people spews dozens of toxic chemicals into the air. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s recycling companies import sorted garbage to stay profitable.
